Three Variety Dosa Recipes: Egg Dosa | Vegetable Dosa | Cheese Dosa | with step by step photos & video. A dosa/south Indian pancake is a rice pancake, originating from South India, made from a fermented batter. It is somewhat similar to a crepe in appearance.

How dosa batter is made?

Dosa is made from soaked and drained rice, fenugreek seeds, and urad dal, also known as black lentils. Processed in a food processor and combined with water, the mixture makes a thin batter that ferments until flavorful. The batter is spread out on a hot pan and cooked similar to a crepe until crisp and delicious.

Serve with your favorite curry or stuff with a filling. While grinding dosa batter if we add a handful of soaked poha, it makes our dosa crisper.

Is dosa healthy?

Dosa is high in carbohydrates and contains no added sugars or saturated fats. As its key ingredients are rice and black gram, it is also a good source of protein. One home made plain dosa without oil contains about 112 calories, of which 84% is carbohydrate and 16% protein.

The fermentation process increases the vitamin B and vitamin C content.
