We can add in or substitute the veggies as we prefer. Here I am using shallots &amp; drumsticks with a blend of  sambar powder spices. Also, you can use store brought sambar powder if you do not wish to prepare homemade sambar powder.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter size-full\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/desertfoodfeed.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/05\/Sambhar-Main-1-1.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-1899\"\/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>\u0ba4\u0bc7\u0bb5\u0bc8\u0baf\u0bbe\u0ba9 \u0baa\u0bca\u0bb0\u0bc1\u0b9f\u0bcd\u0b95\u0bb3\u0bcd :<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>For preparing sambar powder<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>1&nbsp;tsp&nbsp;coconut oil\/any oil of your choice<\/li><li>\u00bd&nbsp;tsp&nbsp;methi \/ fenugreek<\/li><li>\u00bc&nbsp;cup&nbsp;coriander seeds<\/li><li>1&nbsp;tbsp&nbsp;cumin \/ jeera<\/li><li>5 to 8&nbsp;dried red chillies\/20 Kashmiri chilies<\/li><li>1&nbsp;tsp&nbsp;urad dal<\/li><li>1&nbsp;tsp&nbsp;chana dal<\/li><li>\u0b9a\u0bbf\u0bb2 \u0b95\u0bb1\u0bbf\u0bb5\u0bc7\u0baa\u0bcd\u0baa\u0bbf\u0bb2\u0bc8<\/li><li>pinch&nbsp;of hing <\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>For Preparing Sambar<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>3&nbsp;tsp&nbsp;oil<\/li><li>1tsp&nbsp;mustard<\/li><li>2 dried red chillies<\/li><li>pinch&nbsp;hing <\/li><li>\u0b9a\u0bbf\u0bb2 \u0b95\u0bb1\u0bbf\u0bb5\u0bc7\u0baa\u0bcd\u0baa\u0bbf\u0bb2\u0bc8<\/li><li>5-10&nbsp;shallots,&nbsp;crushed \/sliced<\/li><li>1\/2&nbsp;tomato,&nbsp;finely chopped<\/li><li>\u00bd&nbsp;tsp&nbsp;turmeric<\/li><li>&nbsp;\u0b89\u0baa\u0bcd\u0baa\u0bc1 - \u0ba4\u0bc7\u0bb5\u0bc8\u0baf\u0bbe\u0ba9 \u0b85\u0bb3\u0bb5\u0bc1<\/li><li>10 to 15 pieces&nbsp;of drumstick<\/li><li>2&nbsp;cup&nbsp;cooked toor dal<\/li><li>\u00bd&nbsp;cup&nbsp;tamarind extract<\/li><li>finely chopped corriander leaves<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>\u0b9a\u0bc6\u0baf\u0bcd\u0bae\u0bc1\u0bb1\u0bc8 :<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Preparing Sambar Masala<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>In a tawa heat&nbsp;1 tsp coconut oil and saute \u00bd tsp methi\/fenugreek seeds.<\/li><li>add&nbsp;\u00bc cup coriander seeds, 1 tbsp cumin, 1 tsp urad dal and 1 tsp chana dal.<\/li><li>roast on low flame until spices turn aromatic.<\/li><li>Further, add dried red chillies, a pinch hing and few curry leaves. saute on low flame until chillies puff up.<\/li><li>Transfer the spices into mixie jar and blend to a fine powder.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>For preparing Sambar<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>In a pressure cooker cook dal by adding 2 cups of toor dal &amp; 5 to 6 cups water. Keep it aside.<\/li><li>Firstly, in a large kadai heat,\u00a03 tsp oil, and splutter tempering.<\/li><li>Add shallots and saute for 2 minutes. Then add 1 tomato. Saute until tomatoes are soft.<\/li><li>Further, add\u00a0\u00bd tsp turmeric, 2 tbsp sambar powder, and 1 tsp salt.<\/li><li>Saute for a minute until spices turn aromatic.<\/li><li>Add in cut pieces of drumstick and cook well.<\/li><li>Now add the cooked dal and 1 cup water.<\/li><li>adjust the consistency adding water as required. cover and boil for 5 minutes or until flavors are absorbed well.<\/li><li> Add\u00a0\u00bd cup tamarind extract and stir well.<\/li><li>Boil for 5 to 10 minutes or until the raw flavor of tamarind is gone.<\/li><li>Finally, add coriander leaves and enjoy drumstick sambar with hot steamed rice.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Murungakkai Sambar| Drumstick Sambar Recipe.
