Ingredients
- For Cake
11/2 cup All Purpose Flour/Maida
6 tbsp Cocoa Powder
2 tbsp or 25 gms Milk Powder
1/2 tsp Instant Coffee Powder (optional)
1 tsp Baking Powder
1/2 tsp Baking Soda
11/2 cup Powdered Sugar
6 tbsp Vegetable oil
1 cup + 2 tbsp Lukewarm Milk
1 tsp Vanilla Essence
1 tsp Vinegar
- For Preparing Milk Mix
1/4 cup or 40 gm Chocolate
1/4 tsp Instant Coffee Powder (optional)
1/4 tsp Vanilla Essence
1/2 cup Full Fat Milk or Evaporated Milk
5 tbsp Heavy Cream
5 tbsp Condensed Milk
- For Frosting
50 gm Chocolate
1 cup Whipping Cream
5 tbsp Icing Sugar
- For Garnishing

Directions
- Step 1: Making Chocolate Cake
- Firstly, let us prepare the cake tin. Use a 7 or 8 inch round or square tin of your choice. Brush some oil and place a baking sheet in a 7 inch size cake mold. Keep it aside.
- Now, start preparing the dry ingredients in a mixing bowl, by adding 11/2 cup All Purpose Flour/Maida, 6 tbsp Cocoa Powder, 25 gms Milk Powder, 1/2 tsp Instant Coffee Powder (optional), 1 tsp Baking Powder, and 1/2 tsp Baking Soda.
- Mix well and sieve it 2 times and keep it aside.
- In another bowl, add 11/2 cup of powdered sugar, 6 tbsp vegetable oil, 1 cup of lukewarm milk and 1 tsp vanilla essence. Whisk it well, until sugar dissolves.
- Now sieve through the dry ingredients gradually and fold the batter.
- If you feel the batter is too thick add 1 to 2 tbsp milk and fold the batter. Now the consistency of batter is like the flowable ribbon like consistency.
- Add 1 tsp vinegar and again mix the batter. Now our chocolate cake batter is ready.
- Pour the batter in to the prepared cake mold. Tap and level it.
- Bake the cake in a preheated oven at 180 degree or 350F for 30 to 35 minutes.
- Once the cake is baked allow it to cool down completely.
- Upon cooling, cut a thin layer on the top of the cake to give an even surface.
- Place the cake in a glass or steel or a plastic bowl for setting the cake.
- Step 2: Preparing the Milk Mix
- Add 1/4 cup of chocolate chips or dark compound, 1/4 tsp instant coffee powder, and 1/4 tsp vanilla essence in a bowl.
- Firstly, add 1/2 cup of hot full fat milk gradually. Adding hot milk helps to melt the chocolate.
- Once chocolate is melted add 5 tbsp heavy cream and 5 tbsp condensed milk.
- Mix until everything is well combined. Now, milk mix is ready.
- Make pores on the cake completely using a tooth pick.
- Pour the prepared milk mix all over the cake.
- Cover the cake using a cling film and allow it to cool in the fridge for atleast 1hr.
- Step 3: Prepare the Frosting for the Cake
- For preparing the frosting, firstly, double boil 50 gms of chocolate chips or dark compound and 11/2 tbsp whipping cream.
- Mix well until the chocolate is melted. Once the chocolate is melted keep it aside and allow it to cool completely.
- In a mixing bowl add 1 cup whipping cream and start beating the cream using a beater.
- Once the cream starts to foam add 5 tbsp icing sugar gradually and beat until it forms stiff peaks.
- I am planning to add another top layer for frosting, so I am dividing the frosting into 2 halves.
- On one half of the frosting add the prepared chocolate mix and mix it well. Keep it in fridge for some time before frosting the cake.
- To the other half of the cream add red gel colour and mix it.
- Take the cake from the fridge. Apply the frosting layers and place the grated chocolates over the cake as per your desires.
- Slice and serve the cool tres leches cake as a dessert.
